Join experienced printmaker Dena in her studio for a private one to one or group photographic screen printing workshop learning how to print onto fabric or paper. Photographic screen printing is a perfect technique if you are looking to print your own drawings, textures, collages, photographs, text, illustrations, brand name or digitally edited images onto paper, fabric, t-shirts or tote bags.
The studio is a wonderful spacious and welcoming environment where you can relax and enjoy the experience. This session is offered as a private one to one or for groups so can be tailored to suit your requirements, whether you are totally new to screen printing or would like to refresh your skills and try new techniques. Dena will guide you through the whole process with hands on practical demonstrations. You will learn how to edit a one colour A4 design, print onto film, fix the image to a screen through to screen printing onto an option of 100x50cm fabric panel, x 3 t-shirts, x 3 tote bags, x 3 tea towels or x 12 paper editions.
After making some test prints to get a feel for the process, you will start to plan and draw your own design using a light box, ready to scan, edit and print onto film. Your design will be exposed to a screen using an Exposing Unit. Your design will be wash out ready for you to screen print. Additional items can be bought on the day or you can bring your own materials if you want to practice more as time allows (100% cotton, light-coloured fabric is best). There will be plenty of time to experiment and pick and choose colours from the studio collection or even mix your own inks. All inks are water-based.
