Discover the fascinating world of printmaking in our beginner's guide evening course! If you've always wanted to try printmaking but didn't know where to start, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. Our course will introduce you to a variety of basic printmaking processes, including Intaglio and Relief Printmaking, and give you the knowledge and skills to continue your printing journey at home.
During the course, you'll learn about fundamental tools, materials, and equipment and receive practical guidance from Dena. Be inspired by a range of visual outcomes and artists' work as you create hand-printed items, including cards, paper prints , tea towels and a table runner.
What you'll do and make:
- Create a plant-themed drypoint plate based on a photograph using a range of mark-
making techniques. Print your design onto beautiful paper
and add a watercolor touch.
- Design and carve a repeat pattern onto Lino, then print it onto a table runner using a
selection of colors.
- Create a two-layer A4 design inspired by Dena's own photographs, transfer your
design into a hand-cut stencil, and screen print an edition of 6 paper prints.
- Explore botanical printing with Mono Printing inks and an etching press to create a
selection of prints on paper and fabric to make into 6 cards.
- Design and screen print a pattern onto fabric, which can be transformed into a 25cm
diameter lampshade.
